This episode, Doug (@dhindmanjr) is flying solo with a great interview of Stan Specht, a Kitfox builder and owner in Denver who has flown his Kitfox to 49 out of 50 States in the U.S.! Click here to see photos of Stan and his Kitfox in the MHF Photo Gallery. (Stan's also looking for ways to get sponsors and transportation for the Kitfox to Hawaii so he can say he's landed it in all 50! E-mail us if you have thoughts!)

The North American P-51 Mustang fighter plane of World War II and Korean War fame was sometimes nicknamed the "Spam Can", presumably because of the distinctive shape of the ventral air inlet for its radiator. The term is also casually used by both proponents and opponents of single-engined Cessna aircraft to describe the simple aluminum monocoque construction of the planes.

This episode is very short. Just the "leftovers" after our interview in Episode 7 with Captain John. Zyola, Mike, and Nate discuss a few newsworthy items, and give a few shout-outs in our usual "round-table" style. February 28, 2010 Aviation PSA Representatives from KVGT tower and KLAS approach say incursions on the rise from transient pilots leaving KVGT as per Northtown 2. If flying out of North Las Vegas airport KVGT read the plate. Verify you are not using the Boulder plate which is right next to it. From any runway make your turns until you are on heading 250 then turn right on the 313 from KLAS.

While the rest of us were interviewing Capt. John for the F-22 Raptor show, Doug (@dhindmanjr) wasn't just sitting around slacking off! He was interviewing Chris Dillis of SkyRaider Aviation! Chris' club is the only flight club flying 100% Light Sport Aircraft (LSAs) in the Denver Metro area. Chris and Doug talk about how SkyRaider got started, and the Sport Pilot and LSA aviation market. *** SPECIAL NOTE: Tomorrow, Saturday March 13th, 2010 - SkyRaider is hosting an Open House at their new SkyRaider South location at Centennial Airport (KAPA) from 1P-3P. They request that people PLEASE RSVP if you're going to stop by... click on the links here to go to the SkyRaider Aviation website, and at this late date for the podcast/interview release, it's probably best if you give them a call to let them know you're coming! *** Enjoy!

Recorded Sunday, February 28th, 2010 Guest: Capt David F. John, USAF, F-22 Raptor Pilot Current Post: Deputy Director of Operations and Test, OSD/JEPAC Mike, Zyola and Nate interview Captain David John, USAF. Our host Doug, couldn't make it for the interview, but don't worry - he'll be back! Dave answers our questions about flying the F-22, sprinkled in with his own experiences flying the F-15, T-37, and T-38. Dave is currently stationed at Nellis AFB in a non-flying but very important role, and we appreciate him taking the time to talk with us. Dave jumps in and answers both some common questions, and also a few questions you may never have heard posed to an F-22 pilot.
Disclaimer: Dave's interview (as well as our whole podcast) are, as usual, our own personal opinions and he, like us, reserves his right to change his mind about anything he said at any time. In this interview, he is not speaking officially for the U.S. Air Force, but we do thank his commanding Officer for sending him our way.
